| Potentially Fatal: We have learned through heartbreak that some anaesthetics are toxic/fatal to Himmies (Persians). We have lost Earl's Girl to the wrong anaesthestic and on Feb. 12, 2001, we learned that DeBoy was also given the wrong anaesthetic, which caused his heart to stop. This is so very sad to us. We were shattered again on May 9, 2002, at the loss of beautiful Bogart, "the Boat Cat", who went to his vet, a healthy, beautiful boy, to have his teeth cleaned and was killed by the vet's negligence using the wrong anaesthetic. And the vet had been given our vet's recommendation, too. The vet, of course, attrituted the loss to cardiomyopathy (heart). Yes, the heart stopped beating because it was slowed down too much to function by the wrong anaesthetic. We had another tragic loss in November 2005. A healthy Le Club Fur DeSigner's Label (Zoe) went to the vet to be spayed. She didn't recover from surgery. Her vet was also given the instruction on which anaesthetic to use; however, her vet didn't do the surgery and possibly didn't read the instructions. These losses are tragic, devestating and unnecessary.
Our vet recommends: NO acepromazine She recommends using the following anaesthesia: Induction: IV Ketamine/Valium - 0.2ml/0.2ml |
